The School :

August 2025 Start - We are recruiting for a highly regarded international school in Indonesia , set on an impressive 44-acre campus in the vibrant city of Jakarta. The school is a welcoming, close-knit community that brings together families from over 50 nationalities, with students aged 2 to 18 years.

Located in South West Jakarta, the schools state-of-the-art facilities support a full and enriching educational experience from outstanding academic classrooms to exceptional arts, sports, and recreational amenities. The school offers a well-structured and thoughtfully designed curriculum, beginning with the UK Early Years Framework and progressing through the English National Curriculum and inquiry-based learning in Primary. In Secondary, students follow the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) and later the Diploma Programme (DP), all within a culture that values creativity, critical thinking, and global citizenship.

The Role : Secondary Drama Teacher

We are looking for a passionate, creative, and experienced Drama Teacher to join the schools vibrant Secondary faculty. The successful candidate will teach Drama across Years 7 - 13, leading lessons that develop student confidence, performance technique, collaboration, and appreciation of theatre arts in a global context.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a school that values the arts and supports student expression through a variety of platforms from class performances to whole-school productions. The role suits an enthusiastic teacher who enjoys guiding students in both academic and practical drama, and who brings energy to the classroom and performance spaces alike.

While experience with the IB MYP and DP frameworks is desirable, it is not essential what matters most is your ability to inspire students, contribute to school culture, and deliver inclusive, engaging performing arts education.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Drama Curriculum Delivery

Teach Drama across the full Secondary age range (Years 7 - 13)

Design and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that balance theory and performance

Foster a classroom culture of creativity, risk-taking, and mutual respect

Guide students through scripted work, improvisation, devising, and dramatic analysis

Contribute to curriculum planning in alignment with IB (MYP and DP) principles

2. School Productions & Performances

Direct or co-direct student performances, class showcases, and school productions

Manage all aspects of school theatre events including rehearsals, staging, and logistics

Encourage student participation in drama outside the classroom, including clubs and festivals

Support students in developing technical theatre skills such as set design, lighting, or costumes

3. Assessment & Student Support

Use a range of assessment methods to monitor progress and provide feedback

Support students in building confidence, collaboration, and public speaking skills

Create opportunities for student reflection and growth within the performing arts

Provide support to students preparing for IB assessments, where applicable

4. Enrichment & Cultural Contribution

Contribute to the wider cultural life of the school through performing arts events and initiatives

Collaborate with colleagues in Music, Art, and English to create interdisciplinary experiences

Promote diversity and inclusion through culturally responsive performance content

Represent the Drama department in school exhibitions, open days, and community events

5. Professional Engagement & Collaboration

Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Secondary faculty

Participate in whole-school initiatives, planning meetings, and IB workshops

Engage in continuous professional development related to the arts and education

Uphold the values of the school and contribute positively to the school community

Candidate Requirements :

A relevant degree in Drama, Theatre Arts, or Performing Arts (required)

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or international equivalent (required)

Minimum of 5 years post-qualification teaching experience

Experience teaching in international schools and / or familiarity with the IB MYP / DP (preferred)

Proven experience directing school productions or student-led performances

Strong classroom presence, communication skills, and a collaborative spirit

A commitment to inclusive, engaging, and inquiry-based teaching
