Position Overview

The Field Implementation Manager will oversee the end-to-end implementation of large-scale agroforestry projects aimed at delivering high-quality nature-based carbon outcomes. This role involves structured project management, resource optimization, and stakeholder coordination while ensuring strong technical execution on the ground. The Manager will lead field teams, farmer engagement, and data-driven decision-making to achieve successful project outcomes, including ecological and socio-economic benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Scheduling
  • Develop a comprehensive project implementation plan with clear milestones, timelines, and deliverables for activities such as land preparation, species selection, planting, and maintenance.
  • Lead species selection and planting plans, ensuring alignment with ecological goals, local climate conditions, and carbon sequestration targets.
  • Coordinate soil assessments, land surveys, and socio-economic studies to inform project design and farmer engagement strategies.
  • Create and manage work schedules and procurement plans to ensure timely allocation of labor, equipment, seeds, and materials.
  • Establish a resource plan that maps seasonal demands, ensuring all inputs are available when required.

2. Execution & Monitoring

  • Oversee the on-the-ground implementation of project activities across multiple sites, ensuring adherence to quality, cost, and timelines.
  • Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for activities such as land preparation, soil improvement, planting techniques, and irrigation.
  • Monitor critical project KPIs : species survival rates, soil condition improvements, carbon stock growth, and farmer adoption rates.
  • Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks (e.g., resource shortages, pest management, weather-related delays) through timely, practical solutions.
  • Conduct structured weekly and monthly progress reviews with field teams to assess achievements, risks, and corrective actions.
  • Document and maintain visual and quantitative records of implementation activities, including progress logs, planting photos, and survival rate assessments.
  • 3. Farmer Training & Resource Management

  • Develop and deliver farmer training programs focused on agroforestry practices, species care, soil improvement techniques, and sustainable land management.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship to farmers to ensure understanding and adoption of project-aligned sustainable practices.
  • Manage the distribution of project inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, tools, and equipment, ensuring efficient and equitable allocation.
  • Monitor and assess farmer engagement and participation to identify and address gaps or challenges as needed.
  • 4. Field Data Management & Reporting

  • Oversee data collection and management for critical parameters : Soil conditions : pH levels, organic matter content, and nutrient assessments. Species selection and growth rates : Performance, survival, and health of planted species. Socio-economic assessments : Baseline and impact data on farmer incomes, land use, and community benefits. Carbon baselines and stock assessments : Data aligned with carbon credit methodologies and standards.
  • Implement real-time data tracking systems using digital tools to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Analyze collected field data to produce comprehensive reports for stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain an organized and accessible data repository for ongoing monitoring, reporting, and audit readiness.
  • 5. Stakeholder Coordination & Engagement

  • Serve as the key liaison with local communities, government bodies, technical experts, and vendors, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Engage closely with farmers and farmer groups to secure participation and foster trust in agroforestry practices.
  • Represent the organization in community meetings, regulatory discussions, and vendor negotiations to address concerns and align on project goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., science, finance, and strategy) to align field progress with broader organizational priorities.
  • Build strong relationships with local authorities to facilitate necessary regulatory approvals and compliance.
  • Project Management :
  • Lead the planning, execution, and oversight of agroforestry projects, ensuring that all activities are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Regularly update and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure that field activities remain consistent, efficient, and aligned with the organization's strategic goals.
  • Take responsibility for overall project performance, troubleshooting any delays or challenges, and ensuring that the implementation of agroforestry practices meets the agreed objectives.
  • Coordinate between multiple teams, both internally and externally, to ensure smooth execution of projects across different phases.
  • Team Leadership :
  • Provide leadership for the field team conducting surveys, data collection, and socio economic assessments. Ensure the team has the necessary tools and resources to perform their tasks effectively.
  • Onboard, train, and mentor local farmers on agroforestry practices, ensuring they understand and adopt sustainable practices that will enhance both productivity and environmental benefits.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture, motivating and guiding field staff to deliver high-quality work while upholding the organization’s values.
  • Ensure that the team is well-versed in project goals, deadlines, and expectations while fostering professional development through training and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
  • Field Surveys & Data Collection :
  • Manage the coordination of land surveys and socio-economic assessments, ensuring that they are thorough, accurate, and effectively inform the broader agroforestry strategy.
  • Oversee the collection of relevant field data, including soil quality, vegetation, and socio-economic factors, ensuring that it is comprehensive and consistent across all locations.
  • Compile and analyze fieldwork data to generate insightful reports, identifying areas for improvement and presenting recommendations to stakeholders for project advancement.
  • Maintain a system for tracking field data, ensuring all information is accessible, organized, and up-to-date for review by project stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement :
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with local communities, authorities, government bodies, and other stakeholders involved in the agroforestry projects. Ensure that these relationships are based on trust, mutual respect, and collaboration.
  • Represent the company in discussions with external partners, providing regular updates on project progress and addressing concerns or challenges.
  • Advocate for agroforestry practices in the local community, helping to raise awareness of their environmental, social, and economic benefits.
  • Regularly update senior management on the status of the projects, including successes, challenges, and opportunities for scaling or improving project implementation.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders to identify new opportunities for collaboration and ensure that the organization’s projects remain aligned with both community needs and organizational objectives.
  • Qualifications & Skills

  • 3–7 years of experience  in large-scale project execution, including industries such as oil and gas, infrastructure, or other high-complexity sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in working with smallholder farmers and NGOs to drive adoption of regenerative practices and foster effective collaboration.
  • Proven experience coordinating with local governments on land permits and compliance, particularly in regions like Masarang.
  • Expertise in managing end-to-end project execution, including resource planning, risk management, and delivering results under tight timelines and budgets.
  • Strong skills in field data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform strategic decisions and stakeholder communication.
  • Effective leadership in managing and mentoring field teams, ensuring alignment with project goals and professional growth.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including communities, authorities, and partners, fostering trust and collaboration.
  • Travel & Flexibility : Willingness to travel frequently to project sites in Southeast Asia, India, and / or Africa.
