Overview : The Metallurgical Engineer Manager will be responsible for overseeing the metallurgical aspects of both ongoing and new gold processing plant projects. This role ensures the implementation of efficient metallurgical processes, with a strong focus on heap leach operations, while maintaining compliance with industry standards and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, optimize, and implement metallurgical process designs for gold recovery, including heap leach operations.
Oversee the installation, testing, commissioning, and operational performance of metallurgical systems.
Ensure project timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met while optimizing process efficiency.
Lead and mentor a team of metallurgical engineers and technicians, ensuring high performance and technical excellence.
Monitor ongoing projects, troubleshoot metallurgical issues, and propose improvements for process optimization.
Actively participate in the planning and execution of new gold processing projects.
Collaborate with contractors, project teams, and key stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of metallurgical processes.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry regulations related to gold processing and heap leach operations.

Job Requirements

Bachelors degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or a related field.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in metallurgical engineering, particularly in gold processing plant construction and operations.

Proven expertise in heap leach processes, including design, operation, and optimization.

Strong knowledge of metallurgical systems, plant commissioning, and process optimization.

Project management experience, including overseeing construction, commissioning, and operational phases.

Excellent leadership and team management skills to guide engineers and technicians effectively.

Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations in metallurgical and gold processing operations.

Design and optimize metallurgical systems for metallic mineral processing.

Apply principles of physical and chemical metallurgy to separation, extraction, and refining processes.

Lead feasibility studies, lab-scale testing, and pilot plant operations for strategic minerals including rare earths.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (geology, legal, environmental, investment) to ensure project success.

Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, and SOPs aligned with national and international standards.

Provide technical supervision and mentorship to junior engineers and field technicians.

Contribute to innovation and sustainability in metallurgical process development.

Qualifications & Technical Skills Education & Experience

Basic or Master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from a reputable university.

Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in metallurgical engineering, mineral processing, or rare earth projects.

Experience in large‑scale or nationally strategic projects is highly valued.

Core Technical Competencies

Metallurgical Science : Thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, diffusion, corrosion, material characterization

Mineral Processing : Flotation, leaching, pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy, solvent extraction

Rare Earth Elements : Separation, purification, and strategic applications of REEs

Modeling & Simulation : MATLAB, Python, COMSOL, ANSYS, or equivalent tools

Quality & Safety : ISO 9001, ISO 14001, HSE compliance, risk analysis

Language : Fluent in English (technical and professional proficiency)

Position Overview : The selected candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, stewarding, and continuously improving corrosion monitoring and control programs, pressure equipment integrity programs, structural integrity programs, and material selection strategies. These efforts are critical to ensuring the integrity, safety, and operability of production equipment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field

Minimum of 3 years of experience in the oil and gas industry

Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing corrosion control strategies and integrity management programs

Hands‑on experience with inspection planning, execution, and reporting for pressure equipment and piping systems

Experience in conducting failure analysis and root cause investigations

Knowledge of welding processes and metallurgy, especially in relation to fabrication and repair of oil and gas equipment

Experience working in multi‑disciplinary teams and interfacing with operations, maintenance, and engineering functions

Certification in relevant areas (e.g., API 510 / 570 / 653, NACE / AMPP) is an advantage

Strong analytical and technical expertise in corrosion management and material selection, with a solid understanding of oil and gas processing technologies.

Proficiency in English (oral and written), with effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards and other relevant standards in materials and corrosion engineering.

Familiarity with Indonesian regulations, particularly MIGAS requirements.

Experience in risk‑based inspection (RBI) and integrity management systems, including data interpretation and reporting.

Ability to lead or support failure analysis investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.

Strong project management and coordination skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.

Commitment to safety and operational excellence, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating integrity risks.

Title : Mechanical Materials Engineer

KBR's Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is looking for a Mechanical Materials Engineer to support the Abadi LNG project, one of the largest projects in Asia. This project will provide front‑end design (FEED) for onshore liquefied natural gas facilities & will have a peak production capacity target of 9.5 million tons per annum of LNG and 150 million standard cubic feet per day of pipeline gas. The Abadi LNG project has been designated a project of national strategic importance by the Indonesian government.

Responsibilities :

Conduct Erosion / Corrosion modeling / prediction / Assessment studies using latest software program for services in Oil and Gas industry

Study and develop Material Selection Philosophy (MSP), Material Selection Diagram (MSD) and Material Selection Report (MSR) during Concept, Pre‑Feed, FEED and Detail Engineering phases of the Project

Review related detailed design specifications and drawings, submitted by Contractors and Consulting Engineers for compliance with Design Basis, Specifications, Codes, Standards and Industry Practices

Review and endorse Consultant / Contractor's design and coordinate the material and corrosion design review, evaluate options and select best techno‑economic solutions

Provide technical support related to material and corrosion to the Project during Concept, Pre‑FEED, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, testing, installation commissioning and start‑up stages of the project

Advise corrosion monitoring product specification, material selection, identifying monitoring locations, selection criteria for the periodic inspection of facilities covering both Offshore assets in upstream, midstream & downstream Oil & Gas, LNG, refinery and petrochemical facilities

Required Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical / Mechanical engineering or related field

Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in Materials and corrosion Engineering in Oil & Gas Industry with a premier Engineering Consultant or Oil & Gas Company

Working knowledge with international design codes, standards and Company standards and procedure and design software packages such as Predict, ECE5, Hydrocor, and Norsok M506 etc

Highly proficient with relevant industry standards (API, NACE, ISO, NORSOK, DNV, ASME, ASTM, etc.) as well as design and fabrication requirements for Oil & Gas projects

Proven ability with material selection, evaluating corrosion control strategies and implementing corrosion monitoring techniques covering both Offshore assets in upstream, midstream & downstream Oil & Gas, Refinery and Petro chemical facilities

Fully familiar with corrosion problems associated with projects for tubing & X‑Mars trees, pipelines, valves, piping, vessels & exchangers and rotating equipment in Oil and Gas industry

Experienced in coordinating with expert Contractor / Vendor representatives during contractor selection, drawings review and start‑up phases

Strong technical, planning, communication, presentation and reporting skills
