Job Purpose

Ice Cream SHE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety, health, and environmental programs to ensure regulatory compliance and company standards. This includes risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections to identify and mitigate hazards. The manager will lead incident investigations, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. The role also drives continuous improvement, aligns SHE strategies with organizational goals, collaborates with cross-functional teams, mentors team members, and fosters a sustainable safety-conscious work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance : Monitor and ensure compliance with local, national, and corporate SHE regulations and standards; maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws.
  • Develop and Implement SHE Programs : Design site-specific SHE policies, procedures, and training programs; promote a strong safety culture.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation : Conduct regular risk assessments and implement preventive and corrective actions to mitigate SHE risks.
  • Process Safety Management (PSM) : Oversee MOC, PSSR, hazard studies (HAZOP, LOPA), and integrity of critical safety systems; ensure compliance with process safety standards.
  • Incident Management : Lead investigations of incidents and near misses; ensure root cause analysis and timely corrective actions.
  • Training and Awareness : Conduct SHE training for employees, contractors, and visitors; facilitate safety campaigns and toolbox talks.
  • Emergency Preparedness : Develop and test emergency response plans; coordinate with local emergency services and internal response teams.
  • SHE Performance Monitoring : Track and report SHE KPIs with data analytics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Audit and Inspection : Conduct internal SHE audits and support external audits; ensure timely closure of audit findings and non-conformities.
  • Environmental Management : Oversee waste management (including WWTP operation), emissions control, and sustainability initiatives; ensure environmental permits and reporting obligations are met.
  • Site Security Management : Collaborate with security teams on site physical security; support access control, surveillance, and emergency lockdown procedures.
  • Stakeholder Engagement : Liaise with site leadership, HR, operations, and external stakeholders on SHE and security matters; represent the site in corporate forums.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, safety management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety, health, and environmental management, preferably in manufacturing or industrial settings.
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of developing and managing teams.
  • Certification in safety management is a plus.

    Additional Information

    As publicly announced, Unilever will internally separate its Ice Cream business by July 2025, at which point this role will transfer to the new Ice Cream company. It is expected that the Ice Cream business will separate from Unilever by the end of 2025. Any impact on terms and conditions of employment will be communicated in due course. This proposal is subject to consultation where legally required.
