Rotating Equipment Engineer – bp

Job Purpose
Provide technical support and assurance in rotating equipment engineering to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of LNG plant machinery.
Key Accountabilities
Operational Support
- Provide day‑to‑day technical support for critical rotating machinery including gas turbines, compressors, pumps, expanders, and auxiliary systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues in coordination with operations, maintenance, and OEM vendors.
- Review and validate process upsets and trips related to rotating equipment and lead root cause analysis (RCA).
Maintenance Strategy & Execution
Develop, review, and optimize maintenance strategies (PMs, CBM, PdM) based on risk and reliability analysis.Provide guidance on condition monitoring of RE plant in conjunction with others. Understand and report on equipment health, integrity and performance. Identify, recommend and implement corrective actions.Oversee execution of major maintenance (e.g., overhauls, turnarounds) including planning, work scopes, QA / QC, and post‑job evaluation.Reliability Improvement
Support reliability team for reliability improvement initiatives, including bad actor analysis, performance monitoring, and life‑cycle cost assessments.Support asset health monitoring through vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and data analytics platforms and other applicable predictive maintenance methods.Engineering Assurance & Compliance
Ensure all rotating equipment design and modifications comply with international standards (e.g., API, ISO) and BP engineering practices.Support technical decisions on rotating equipment discipline.Initiate, coordinate and review Management of Change (MOC) related to rotating machinery.Project Support
Support plant modification projects (Brownfield / Small Capex) by providing discipline engineering input from concept to commissioning.Participate in HAZOP revalidation, design reviews, equipment selection, and FAT / SAT.Leadership & Mentoring
Coach and mentor junior engineers and technicians in rotating equipment practices.Facilitate knowledge transfer and support technical training programs for site personnel.Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.Minimum 8 years of experience in rotating equipment engineering in oil & gas, preferably LNG or petrochemical.In‑depth knowledge of rotating equipment principles, diagnostics, and repair methods.Familiar with predictive maintenance tools, reliability engineering, and CMMS (e.g., SAP).Experience working in a remote field environment with multicultural teams is highly desirable.Strong interpersonal, communication, and decision‑making skills.Seniority level
