Job Summary :
The Country Manager will be responsible for leading and managing Waypoint Port Services' operations in Indonesia, driving commercial growth, optimizing procurement strategies, and ensuring operational excellence. This role involves securing new clients and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders in the maritime sector.
The position requires strategic leadership to oversee financial performance, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency while ensuring alignment with global company objectives. By managing vendor agreements and negotiating competitive rates, the Country Manager will play a pivotal role in strengthening the company’s presence and reputation in the Indonesian maritime market.
Main responsibilities :
- Lead and execute the company’s commercial and growth strategy in Indonesia, focusing on acquiring new customers and expanding market share.
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with shipowners, charterers, commodity traders, freight forwarders, and other maritime stakeholders.
- Represent Waypoint Port Services in business development meetings, trade events, and maritime industry forums in Indonesia and the wider region.
- Conduct regular market intelligence to identify emerging business opportunities, competitor activities, and customer needs.
- Develop strategic sales plans and pricing proposals tailored to key clients and market segments.
- Collaborate closely with regional and global leadership to align sales goals with broader company objectives.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and business development reports to headquarters.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and promote the company’s values and reputation in the Indonesian maritime sector.
- Be accountable for the P&L of Waypoint Port Services in Indonesia.
- Oversee and manage the office activities and employees in Indonesia, ensuring efficient workflows, team coordination, and adherence to company policies and standards.
- Optimize operational costs by focusing on efficiency, objective control, and coordination of own offices, agents, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Coordinate financial performance, cash requirements, and working capital with the Group CFO.
- Meet the company’s statutory and fiscal obligations.
- Ensure that employees follow standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Seek continuous improvements in operational procedures.
Main Qualifications :
Proven track record in sales, business development, or commercial management within the maritime, shipping, logistics, or related sectors.Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a senior commercial role in Indonesia.Strong network within the shipping and port community in Indonesia.Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and negotiate commercial agreements.Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and drive results.Bachelor's degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field (MBA preferred).Preferred Qualities :
Knowledge of port agency services, ship husbandry, and the maritime industry is a plus, though not essential.Ability to travel domestically and occasionally internationally as required.Strong leadership presence with the ability to represent the company to clients and authorities.#J-18808-Ljbffr
