Role Overview

The Director of Market Intelligence & Research Integrity is a senior executive responsible for setting the vision, strategy, and execution of Merchant Guild's global research, analytics, data quality, and service pricing structure. This role merges the strategic foresight of market insight collected through the Retail Consultant network with the rigorous oversight of research integrity, while also driving the pricing strategy for Merchant Guild packages and pricing its services for maximum industry impact based on a strong insight into the global competitive landscape.

As the Guild's top authority in market intelligence, this leader ensures that every data-driven product - from market reports to custom research engagements - delivers high-value insights built on uncompromising accuracy. At the same time, they develop and manage a pricing framework that aligns Merchant Guild's offerings with industry demand, competitive positioning, and revenue objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership

Define and execute Merchant Guild’s research, analytics, and pricing strategy, ensuring alignment with long-term organizational goals.

  • Collect information from the Retail Consultant to identify market trends, industry shifts, and competitive landscapes.
  • Lead the production of flagship reports, market forecasts, and member intelligence briefings.
  • Market Insights & Analytics
  • Direct the design of market research projects, including quantitative, qualitative, and hybrid methodologies.

  • Oversee predictive analytics, scenario modelling, and competitive benchmarking.
  • Ensure insights are effectively visualized, communicated, and actionable for varied audiences.
  • Research Quality & Integrity
  • Establish and maintain rigorous quality assurance standards for all research outputs.

  • Audit methodologies, validate data sources, and oversee peer review processes.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical research practices and relevant data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA).
  • Develop and maintain a dynamic pricing framework for Merchant Guild’s research products, memberships, and consulting services.
  • Conduct market-based pricing analysis to ensure competitive positioning while maximizing value and revenue.
  • Collaborate with partnership managers to tailor pricing for custom projects, partnerships, and tiered service offerings.
  • Monitor pricing performance and adjust strategies based on market feedback, demand trends, and profitability targets.
  • Qualifications

  • 8+ years in research operations, data governance, or analytics quality assurance.
  • Strong track record in methodological design, data validation, and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of pricing models, elasticity analysis, and value-based pricing approaches.
  • Expertise in statistical techniques, sampling, and error mitigation.
  • Familiarity with international data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA) and ethical research practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Proficiency with analytics tools and quality-checking processes.
