Education Technical Advisor

Role Purpose :

The Education Technical Advisor (TA) is responsible for providing strategic and technical advice, leadership and guidance on quality education and learning in Indonesia and contributing to Save the Children’s global goals. Working in tandem with and reporting to the Director of Program Development and Impact (PDI) Unit, the TA’s scope includes Early Childhood Care Development (ECCD) for children aged - years, Basic Education (BE) for ages - years, including Out-of-School Children (OOSC) across our relevant work in the country.

The role is responsible for :

• Strategic Planning (%) : Leading our Indonesian Country Strategy to expand access to and improve the quality of education for all children across Indonesia.
• Program Design and Development (%) : Leading and contributing to the program design and proposal development processes to secure funding for Indonesia’s Education programs.
• Advocacy for and with Children (%) : Leading advocacy efforts to advance policy and legislative reforms for children’s education and learning nationwide.
• Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning / MEAL (%) : Leading the Education Community of Practice in Indonesia, fostering collaboration and sharing best practices, evidence, and insights; focusing on both internal coordination and external advocacy on critical issues such as access to quality education, educational inequality, school safety, as well as engaging with civil society and assessing the impact of public financial management on child-focused investments.
• Technical Leadership (%) : Providing technical guidance to enhance the implementation of high-quality Education programs throughout the country and to grow a cadre of Education Specialists.

The post holder will lead in achieving the KPIs for timely and quality reporting for Education programs and will contribute to ensuring financial sustainability and a growth-oriented funding portfolio. The TA will also support the establishment and operation of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) mechanisms that underpin large-scale implementation. Additionally, the role involves advocating effectively for children in accordance with the Theory of Change (ToC) and bolstering the organization’s strong brand by ensuring adherence to global branding procedures and enhancing brand recognition in the local market.

The TA contributes to the development of strong relationships and partnerships with external stakeholders, including government authorities, boards, members, donors, partner agencies, local and international NGOs / civil society organizations, and the private sector. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work beyond the normal role profile and to adjust working hours as necessary. Additionally, temporary relocation to disaster-affected areas may be required.
