Vice President, Business Development – Small Molecule CDMO (Europe)

Location : Europe (Remote, with travel)

With an expanding service portfolio, significant investments in capacity, and long-standing global partnerships, the company is poised for the next stage of growth.

About the Role

The Vice President of Business Development will be responsible for leading commercial growth across Europe for the company’s small molecule CDMO services. As an individual contributor initially, this role will focus on building new client relationships, securing strategic partnerships, and positioning the company as a preferred development and manufacturing partner in the region. Over time, there will be potential to build and lead a team as the business grows.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the European BD strategy for small molecule CDMO services.
  • Proactively identify and secure new business opportunities with pharmaceutical and biotech companies.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through to negotiation and contract closure.
  • Develop and expand strategic accounts, driving long-term partnerships and revenue growth.
  • Represent the company at major industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings across Europe.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders in R&D, operations, regulatory, and quality to ensure alignment on client needs.
  • Provide market intelligence on competition, customer trends, and pricing dynamics to inform strategy.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record (7+ years) in business development leadership within API / small molecule CDMO / CMO services.
  • Strong European network with pharma and biotech decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated success in winning high-value contracts and building long-term client partnerships.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to operate independently and deliver results in a lean setup.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Fluent in English; additional European languages highly valued.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Europe.
