CLASP’s Regional Office in Indonesia
CLASP’s Regional Office in Indonesia has been working with the Directorate General of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) since 2023 to support in the strengthening and implementation of energy conservation in Indonesia through setting up and improving appliances policies, developing digitalization tools for appliance policy compliance, and supporting energy labelling campaigns to increase the awareness on energy labeling and accelerate market transformation for energy efficient appliances.
To date, MEMR has issued eight appliance policies for rice cookers, refrigerators, LED lighting, fans, air conditioners, television, showcase (refrigerated display case) and water dispensers. CLASP will continue supporting MEMR to achieve the emission reduction targets according to their 2060 Net Zero Roadmap and the enhanced Nationally Determined Contributions through appliance policies.
Our Vision for the Role
The Manager will lead, build, and manage CLASP’s engagement and portfolio in Indonesia, with a focus on advancing appliance energy efficiency policies. In addition to overseeing the Indonesia portfolio, the Manager will also provide support to other programs within the Global team as needed. The candidate will work collaboratively with CLASP team members in China, Brazil, India, the US, Europe, Kenya, and South Asia, along with CLASP’s network of international partners and program stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage CLASP’s engagement at the national and subnational level : Build, grow, and manage a diverse portfolio supporting appliance energy efficiency policies in Indonesia. Collaborate with the Senior Manager and members of CLASP’s leadership team to shape strategies and design programs aligned with CLASP’s goals and national priorities.
- Build, manage and grow a high-performing team : Lead and mentor a results-oriented, problem-solving team that adapts effectively to dynamic environments and expands stakeholder engagement. Oversee day-to-day workflows, ensuring quality control and providing technical leadership to drive successful program execution.
- Develop strategic partnerships : Forge and strengthen partnerships with governments, civil society organizations, philanthropic institutions, bilateral and multilateral agencies, industry associations, and private sector companies to advance energy efficiency goals.
- Communicate impact : Collaborate with CLASP’s communications team to prepare and disseminate compelling stories of program successes, research outcomes, and lessons learned to diverse audiences.
- Drive business development : In close coordination with the Senior Manager and other CLASP colleagues, identify new business development opportunities, lead the development of proposals and projects, and communicate program progress effectively to donors and external stakeholders.
- Guide implementation and track progress : Develop work plans, detailed implementation plans, terms of reference, and monitoring and evaluation metrics. Monitor and evaluate project progress, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure timely, high-quality project delivery.
- Keep the big picture in mind : Ensure that program design and delivery are aligned with the broader objectives of CLASP, its partners, and the sector’s strategic direction.
- Represent CLASP externally : Represent CLASP in external forums, including government consultations, policy discussions, and stakeholder meetings, to build and strengthen partnerships at national and subnational levels.

Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in program design and implementation within energy efficiency, clean energy, economics, public policy, or energy sectors in the Indonesian context. Successful experience working with or for governments to support energy policy design and implementation is highly desirable.Master’s degree in a relevant field such as business and climate finance, business administration, environmental economics, international relations, sustainable development, or public policy is required.Proven experience managing relationships with clients / partners and funders, as well as managing staff, contractors, and consultants. Prior experience managing a team is desirable.Demonstrated entrepreneurial approach to designing and executing long-term initiatives, with a proactive, agile, and strategic problem-solving orientation.Excellent persuasive communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong report writing abilities and fluency in spoken and written English are essential.Ability to maintain composure, flexibility, and a sense of humor under tight deadlines. Strong organizational skills to handle multiple deadlines and complete assignments with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.Strong analytical capabilities, including proficiency in Excel and / or other analytical software, with the ability to translate analysis into practical policy recommendations.Compensation and Location

The Manager will be based in CLASP’s Jakarta office. Preference for those that have official permission to work in Indonesia. Travel (domestic and international) is required, approximately quarterly. CLASP is a global organization and as such, evening or weekend hours may be required at times. This role requires in-office attendance on selected days.
