The Director of Sales - MICE oversees day-to-day sales efforts of Senior Sales Managers, Sales Managers, and Sales Executives, directing sales, training, and implementing action plans in the marketing plan under the guidance of the Commercial Director.
The department emphasizes collaboration with Sales, Marketing Communications and Revenue Management to maximize bookings and productivity within the hotel.
Responsibilities
- Promote and sell all hotel products (e.g., banquets, rooms, catering, etc.).
- Lead the team to achieve sales targets and manage related tasks.
- Develop sales plans and maintain relationships with customers regionally or by industry; understand customer needs through calls, visits, and other channels.
- Summarize and manage the hotel’s sales process; conduct regular evaluations to ensure targets are met.
- Monitor sales output and adjust actions based on market changes.
- Organize travel schedules and manage travel expenses to optimize sales effort.
- Build relationships with convention companies, conference services, travel agents and Hilton regional offices.
- Clarify responsibilities, goals and achievements for Sales team members; evaluate employees periodically.
- Personally manage and maintain key accounts; set personal sales goals and select key customers.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing Communications and Revenue Management to optimize team bookings and productivity.
- Ensure timely quotations, contract delivery, and prompt follow-up with customers; invite visits to the hotel.
- Coordinate department workload and banquet work orders with relevant departments.
- Gather market and industry information to share with the Sales team; identify and convert opportunities into business.
- Remain familiar with competitor product information and market feedback; report to the Director of Business Development as needed.
- Welcome key customers, team leaders and VIPs to the hotel.
- Organize regular cross-functional meetings to ensure effective communication between Sales and Operations teams.
- Maximize sales and forecast revenue for the team and banquets.
- Contribute to budget formulation and participate in forecasts and market plans.
- Provide regular training to ensure team knowledge of hotel products and processes.
- Analyze customer output and market structure to anticipate trends and design opportunities.
- Lead the Sales team to achieve departmental goals and chair department meetings.
