Overview

Laboratory Equipment Maintenance Engineer – Location : Ivory Coast (West Africa). Our client is an independent contract laboratory supporting industries such as food, water, mining, petroleum, textiles, and agriculture with impartial testing and compliance services. Operating under international standards, they rely on highly specialized laboratory equipment to deliver accurate, reliable, and timely results for multinational clients.

Position : Laboratory Equipment Maintenance Engineer

Role focus : Ensure that all laboratory instruments are well-maintained, calibrated, and fully functional, minimizing downtime and supporting reliable test results. The role requires both technical expertise and the ability to train laboratory staff on correct usage of equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to minimize downtime and ensure accurate results.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment such as chromatographs, spectrometers, incubators, balances, ovens, and other lab devices.
  • Calibrate instruments and maintain documentation in line with ISO 17025 requirements.
  • Provide training to laboratory staff on proper use and handling of equipment.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and service providers for maintenance, repairs, and equipment upgrades.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of laboratory equipment (chromatographs, spectrometers, incubators, balances, ovens, etc.).
  • Proven track record in preventive and corrective maintenance, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to calibrate instruments and maintain documentation in line with ISO 17025 requirements.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in equipment maintenance (preferably in laboratory or industrial environments).
  • Autonomy, reliability, and capacity to liaise with suppliers and service providers.
  • Nice-to-Haves

  • Prior experience working in an ISO-accredited laboratory context.
  • Familiarity with equipment procurement, installation, and qualification (IQ / OQ / PQ).
  • Capacity to support external service interventions or vendor liaison for highly specialized instruments.
