Establish and Execute Audit Plan : Develop and implement a risk-based internal audit plan from the ground up, encompassing all operational, financial, and compliance aspects of the hospital.
Comprehensive System Evaluation : Critically assess the design and effectiveness of existing internal controls, risk management processes, and governance structures as if starting with no prior system. Identify weaknesses and areas for improvement.
Team Leadership and Evaluation : Lead, manage, and evaluate the performance of the internal audit team. Identify skill gaps and implement training or restructuring as needed to optimize team effectiveness.
Conduct Audits : Plan, execute, and report on internal audits in accordance with professional standards, including documenting findings, developing recommendations, and tracking remediation efforts.
Regulatory Compliance : Ensure compliance with all relevant local healthcare regulations, laws, and internal policies.
Reporting to Leadership : Communicate audit findings, recommendations, and the status of corrective actions to senior management and the audit committee.
Continuous Improvement : Stay abreast of best practices in internal auditing and the healthcare industry to continuously improve the audit function.
Fraud Detection : Develop and implement procedures for the detection and prevention of fraud and irregularities.
Job Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
Professional certification such 1 as CPA, CIA, or CISA is highly desirable.
Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in internal auditing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Significant experience in evaluating and building internal audit systems from inception.
Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies, internal control frameworks, and auditing techniques.
Experience within the healthcare industry is a significant advantage.
