About the Organization :

It has a strong legacy of working in South Asia on supporting Parliamentarians and sub-national governments on designing and delivering interventions that respond to the climate crisis. Swaniti Initiative is now expanding its footprint in Indonesia and working on energy transition efforts.

Swaniti Initiative is undertaking a comprehensive technical support programme focused on supporting the economic diversification of mining communities in Indonesia. Additionally, we are working on pathways in mobilizing public funds most efficiently in large scale energy initiatives. And looking to support the private sector in decarbonization efforts. Our work aims to support the government of Indonesia in finding economic pathways on energy transition. It involves conducting comprehensive research, skills assessments, aspiration analysis, and demographic studies to inform key policymakers and support a just transition in these regions.

About the Position : Job Overview :

The Associate Researcher will support evidence-based policy initiative programming in Indonesia, through high quality research, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge synthesis. This role is ideal for junior professional who is passionate about energy transition and public policy, which provide avenue to grow a combination of analytical rigor and strong interpersonal skills.

Roles & Responsibilities :

1. Research and Analysis :

  • Assist in the design and implementation of qualitative and quantitative research studies;
  • Conduct desk reviews, literature, and data analysis focusing - but not limited to- energy transition;
  • Prepare briefings, notes, policy insights, social media posts and other documents to support parliament and executive government agencies intervention;
  • Periodically monitors public domain, legislative debates and motion on energy transition, decarbonization, and climate change;
  • Identify critical policy gaps and propose interventions at both constituency in subnational level and national levels

2. Stakeholder Engagement :

  • Engage with stakeholders including government bodies, think tanks, civil society, corporate CSR wings, and grassroots organizations
  • Organize public events and workshops on various topics
  • 3.   Documentation & Reporting :

  • Prepare comprehensive reports, policy briefs, and knowledge products on relevant issues
  • Document policy recommendations, administrative reports, and success stories for larger dissemination
  • Requirements

    Qualifications :

    Education : Graduate degree in Economics, Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Development Studies or any related field

    Experience : 0-1 years of experience in policy research, public policy, or legislative support (internship experience considered).

    Skills :

    Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia

    Strong research and interpretation skills

    Ability to translate complex policy issues into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders, in particular government agencies and parliament in Indonesia

    Excellent communication skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders

    Familiarity with parliamentary processes, including committee reports, legislative procedures, and budgets

    Prior knowledge of social media- creating and drafting content

  • Engagement Type : Fixed-term employment
  • Joining date : Immediately
  • Minimum Engagement : 12 months, including a probation period of 3 months
  • What happens after 12 Months? To be extended subject to availability of funds and satisfactory performance
