Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance and direction for driving a culture of service excellence across the Payment Service organization that aligns with strategic goals and improves customer journeys. Effectively manage stakeholder relationships with the business and operations, eliminate roadblocks, and maintain a high operational standard across all processes, ultimately delivering outstanding service quality to HBID internal and external clients.
  • Empower the GPS Operation organization to excel and drive achievement of the business service objectives by fostering a dynamic, inclusive, and flexible culture that empowers and develops staff, encourages collaboration, and brings together diverse ideas and perspectives to shape HSBC’s future.
  • Provide strategic guidance and direction to managers responsible for driving Operational Excellence (OpEx) and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives across teams. Shape and promote a culture of innovation that drives sustainable change in alignment with the bank’s value streams, enhancing customer journeys, boosting operational efficiency, mitigating risk, and meeting savings targets.
  • Manage GPS Operation team resources effectively, ensuring costs are controlled and financial performance targets are met.
  • Effectively manage risk and the control environment, including risk strategy, measures (KRIs, KCIs), and escalation of key issues / decisions. Drive the right behavior in the team and across the wider organization, working with other lines of defense, demonstrating risk awareness and future thinking.
  • Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience in the financial industry in payment operations for both domestic and cross-border payments.
  • Good knowledge of payment products.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented and passionate about numbers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proactive, independent, and able to navigate complexity.
  • Develop a strong risk culture within a team to sustain controls on risks.
  • Handle issues and incidents in a timely manner and responsible for escalation to stakeholders promptly.
  • Familiar with local regulatory and all relevant business and functional manuals, maximizing operational efficiency, productivity, accuracy and control, while providing consistently high standards of internal and external customer service to support business targets.
