Responsibilities

• Recommend solutions by defining the physical structure of the database, functional capabilities, database security, data backup, and recovery specifications
• Install new systems or perform revisions by proposing specifications and flow diagrams; recommend optimal access techniques; coordinate installation requirements
• Maintain database performance by calculating optimal values for database parameters; applying new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and software products
• Support database functions by designing and coding utilities
• Maintain service quality by establishing organizational standards
• Define user requirements and monitor user access and security
• Monitor performance and manage parameters to provide fast and responsive end-to-end query responses to users
• Map the conceptual design for the planned database in an outline
• Consider both back-end data organization and front-end accessibility for end users
• Further refine the physical design to meet system storage requirements
• Install and test the latest versions of DBMS
• Maintain data standards, including compliance with Data Protection Laws
• Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)
• Control access permissions and privileges
• Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans
• Ensure storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures function correctly
• Provide capacity planning in collaboration with IT project managers and application teams
• Communicate regularly with technical, application, and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
• Improve database systems and provide backup along with disaster recovery
• Understand and have experience in microservices architecture, event-driven architecture (preferably using Apache Kafka), CI / CD mechanisms, DevOps, and memcache concepts in Spring
