Astro is looking for a Technical Architect to lead the design and scaling of our quick‑commerce platform. This role bridges business goals with robust, cost‑efficient tech solutions, with deep expertise in Elasticsearch, distributed systems, cloud (GCP), and automation . You’ll drive architectural standards, explore new technologies, and mentor engineers while ensuring systems are secure, scalable, and ready to support millions of customers. Experience in marketplace or e‑commerce technology and knowledge in ML for search are strong pluses.

Job Responsibilities

Continuously improving the standard for software architecture documentation and review processes
Continuously improving the standard for deployment and release management
Researching potential new technology to be used in our products
Providing technical consultation to both engineers and non‑engineers
Translating business goals into scalable tech solutions
Liaising with Product Management and Infrastructure Engineering organizations to make sure the current architecture fits the company’s direction from cost and quality perspectives
Organizing domain‑specific technical sharing sessions for engineers across organization

Requirements

8+ Years of Overall Experience with a Bachelor's / Master's Degree in computer science or related fields with strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, data modeling, and OOP

4+ years of experience in planning, architecting, designing, developing and delivering software related to platforms at scale

Deep mastery of full text search engines (Elasticsearch)

Experience with the Lucene library

Hands‑on experience in Elasticsearch cluster operationalization, configuration tuning, query optimization, scaling, preferably on highly distributed and highly loaded large clusters. Demonstrated relevancy tuning experience.

Owned a highly specialized skill on a single aspect of technology (describe it)

Quick prototyping and development programs in Golang

Experience with GCP, Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, or other automation and operationalizing distributed tech stack

Good understanding of software architecture, scalable data‑intensive architecture, and teamwork

Knowledge of machine learning topics relevant to search, such as NLP, vector search, building ML training pipelines, evaluating search quality, ranking models, and operationalizing the end‑to‑end stack

Experience with distributed systems and database partitioning

Knowledge of data security, data privacy, and related information security best practices

Excellent communication, sharp analytical abilities with proven design skills, able to think critically of the current system in terms of growth and stability

Extensive experience in marketplace‑related technology
