Job Description
As a VP of Business Unit, your main responsibilities will include :
Operational Strategy & Leadership
- Developing and executing operational strategies to drive efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Leading multi-site retail operations (store networks, warehouse, logistics, and fulfilment).
- Defining KPIs for store performance, inventory turnover, and customer service metrics.
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and retail regulations across all locations.
- Driving innovation and process improvements within the department.
- Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
Store Operations Management
- Overseeing day-to-day operations of retail stores, ensuring consistent execution of company standards.
- Implementing operational improvements for sales performance, shrinkage control, and cost management.
- Driving customer experience enhancements, including
Supply Chain and Performance Management
- Collaborating with procurement and merchandising teams to ensure efficient supply chain and inventory levels.
- Manage distribution centers and logistics operations for timely product availability in stores.
- Implement technology and process improvements to optimize inventory forecasting and replenishment.
- Managing budgets for operations, forecasting, and P&L accountability for store performance.
- Analyze operational data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve profitability.
- Managing budgets and analysing financial data to guide decision-making.
- Monitoring market trends and adapting strategies to remain competitive.
Team Leadership & Development
- Building, mentoring, and retaining a high-performing operations team (regional managers, area managers, and store managers).
- Fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
- Work with HR team to design training programs to enhance operational capabilities and leadership pipeline.
- Report regularly to the executive team on key operational metrics and performance insights.
Innovation & Technology
- Drive adoption of retail technologies (POS systems, inventory management tools, customer analytic).
- Implement omnichannel strategies, integrating e-commerce and physical store operations.
- Explore automation and digital solutions to enhance efficiency and customer engagement.
The Successful Applicant
This role requires an individual with strong commercial and operation background, ideally someone who is comfortable working in an ambiguous and unstructured environment. If you have experience in retail / B2C sector, would be a plus. Other requirement includes :
- A strong educational background in business administration, management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in leadership roles within the retail industry.
- At least 12 years of working experience in a reputable business, and a start-up experience.
- Exceptional strategic planning and analytical skills.
- Structure thinking, and ability to lead a team.
- Experience in managing financial and operational aspects of a business unit.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- A results-driven mindset with the ability to inspire and lead teams.
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves, and understand the essence of customers and operational excellence in retail sector.
