JOB PURPOSE
Under the Indonesia WFP Country Strategic Plan 2021 – 2025 (CSP) School Based Programme (SBP) Evidence Offer, is responsible for documentation and generation of evidence in support of the Government of Indonesia commitment towards improved nutrition for school – aged children, inclusive of Government led School Meals activities.
The SBP Research Officer will report directly to the Team Leader, under the overall guidance of Head of Strategic Objective 3.
The Officer is responsible for supporting partnerships with academic institutions, CSOs and other agencies aimed at research, and evidence generation. In addition, the Officer will lead WFP Indonesia efforts to document insights from research, integrated delivery models, successes and lessons learned as per it school based programmes.
In 2021, WFP Indonesia launched its Country Strategic Plan (CSP) 2021-2025, which is fully aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2021-2025 and the Government’s Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2024. Through this its CSP WFP engages in policy dialogue and provides technical assistance in partnership with and support of the Government of Indonesia. WFP Indonesia supports the Government to achieve its mid-term and long-term SDG targets with a focus on Food Security and Nutrition Analysis, Social Protection, Disaster Preparedness and Climate Change Adaptation, and addressing malnutrition through healthy diets, and food systems transformation.
The programme portfolio under the incumbent here contributes directly to the achievement of CSP Strategic Objective 3, namely, “By 2025 populations at risk of multiple forms of malnutrition benefit from increased national capacity to design and implement programmes that enhance access to and promote positive behaviours on healthy diets and prevent stunting and other nutritional deficiencies”.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Responsible for leading efforts to research and document current and past activities including modeling of nutritious school meals and healthy school environment.
- Support drafting of policy briefs, and other advocacy and / or communication materials related to school-based programmes.
- Contribute to design and facilitation for events, conferences, workshops, and / or trainings related to evidence generation for school based programmes.
- Provide strategic input and actively engage in national level policy dialogue to enhance policies, programmes and resource allocation to improve nutrition of school-aged children.
- Provide technical assistance to government counterparts and other partners to enhance capacity to generate evidence.
- Provide strategic and technical inputs for the development of concept notes, and proposals to mobilize resources for school based programmes and improving healthy diets.
- Support implementation of south-south and triangular cooperation initiatives to contribute to enhanced policy dialogue and capacity for improved nutrition of school aged children.
- Research and analyze a range of policy and operational issues as part of WFP’s engagement with the Government on policies, programmes and activities related to School Nutrition through the School-based Health Programme (UKS) and Social Protection schemes.
- Contribute to the effective management of internal and external partnerships for improved nutrition status of school-aged children.
10. Contribute to the timely and quality reporting of WFP Indonesia School Nutrition programmes and activities to meet donor and corporate requirements.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION :
Advanced University degree in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Food Technology, Medicine, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development and nutrition.University Degree with additional 5 years of related work experience and / or trainings / courses.EXPERIENCE :
Two years post graduate relevant professional experience with master’s degree, or Five years post graduate relevant professional experience with a first University Degree.Experience with data collection, research and analysis, and documentation of lessons learned of nutrition, health and school based policies and programs.Demonstrated experience in partnership building and country capacity strengthening modalities.Demonstrated experience in engaging and influencing policy dialogueLANGUAGES Fluency (level C) in English and Bahasa language.
