The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

This role will lead contract manufacturing category management activities globally, with a strong focus on consumer business products with full turnkey approach. This role will manage category management and supplier partnerships for a wide range of materials and processes—including metals, plastics, electronics, tooling, and final assembly—in support of high-volume, design-driven consumer products with a complete turnkey options.

This position will also drive category policies and best practices, while helping the procurement organization and 3M meet its cost savings, growth and working capital goals by leading negotiations, being part of effective NPI launches, and managing complex supplier relationships.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following :

• Category (Contract Manufacturing) Management & Supplier DevelopmentDevelop and execute category strategies that will align with company objectives for cost, quality, innovation, and risk mitigation.Negotiate and establish effective vendor contract agreements, holding suppliers accountable to competitive prices, high quality and best in class serviceDrive profitability & free cash flow through supplier negotiation and developmentConduct thorough spend analysis, market intelligence gathering, and benchmarking to identify cost reduction opportunities and improve supplier competitiveness.Lead total cost of ownership (TCO) evaluations, factoring in tooling investments, logistics, duties, and quality costs to ensure optimal long-term category choices.Identify, qualify, and manage contract manufacturers and suppliers in Asia for :
• Metal components : die casting, precision machining, stamping, extrusion.
• Plastics : injection molding, over molding, extrusion and various decoration
• Tooling : new tool development, DFM reviews, and lifecycle management.
• Electronics : PCB sourcing, SMT, PCBA assembly, harnesses, and electromechanical integration.
• Final assembly : high-quality, scalable, and cost-effective assembly of finished consumer products.
• Consumer packaging
• Build a multi-year category roadmap that supports business growth, drives standardization, and optimizes category decisions across regions
• Lead QBRs (Quarterly Business Reviews) and EBR (Executive Business Reviews) with suppliers & be able to effectively communicate with executive teams
• Product Development & Cross-Functional SupportPrimary contact and focal point to the various portfolios within Consumer Business Group to address all sourcing and supplier NPI management issues for all.Participate in early-stage product reviews to ensure manufacturability, cost competitiveness, and supply feasibility.Support DFM (Design for Manufacturability), VAVE, and tooling kickoff processes.Manage supplier execution of NPI (New Product Introduction) and scale-up programs.
• Collaborate with Business Unit partners to understand the long-term requirements, mapping requirements into supply base offerings
